Cell Phone Plan - Which one do I choose?

Published by Michelle at 9:29 AM under Technology

Share

It is difficult to visualize life and activity without a cell phone in the U.S. It can be challenging and painful, at the same time! But the tussle still persists. Since, after realizing that it is a necessity, the choice becomes the battle! And this tussle in mind is fuelled further by the number of options, the variety of devices, huge variation in prices, the availability of plans and the endless permutations along with!

This strikes a panic alarm, for the choice of a wrong plan leads to a suffering for a considerable time-span. Also the rationale behind measuring time, the concept of minutes for an incoming or outgoing call in the U.S. is very different than the rest of the world. Also the notion of a prepaid plan vis-à-vis a post-paid plan is extremely different.

So in the long run, for more than a period of 6 months, only a post-paid plan could benefit you! So if you’re leaving for highest studies, going for a year on work permit or immigrating, then don’t think of anything other than a post-paid connection. You will only have to pay upto $50 and you’d be thankful, since it is worth it! Totally! However, if you’re touring the U.S., perhaps only for a month or a quarter, then a prepaid connection is your right option!

The best prepaid unlimited plan comes for around $60 dollars and it entails most of the benefits offered by post-paid plans. And, it is okay to pay some premium if you are here for just a month. Though you might feel that a post-paid connection is slightly expensive to begin with, but it will be the only one that would benefit and save money consistently in the long run.

Prepaid Cell Phone Plans:

From your experience in your home country, a prepaid plan might seem a favourable and safe option on the surface, but it is not that economical for a sustained period. In most countries, an incoming connection allows for free incoming calls, and the amount paid is directly proportional to the outgoing minutes on your phones, but not in the U.S. The incoming facility is not for free, unless the plan specifies it!

There isn’t anything free concept, which is why a prepaid connection isn’t the best bang for the buck. Also, don’t assume any free minutes, special discounts over the weekend, unless you invest on another premium prepaid card!

However, it also has its own benefits; you don’t need a credit check, thus, no hassle involved. Just barge into a store and pop out with a new phone. The charge per minute can vary from 10 cents to 25 cents.

Post Paid Cell Phone Plans:

In the U.S. post-paid cell phone plan is a way of life. As we previously suggested, if your aim is anything over six months, opt for a post-paid plan without thinking twice. Each plan offers limited counted day-time minutes. Better explained, one will be charged for incoming as well as outgoing from the minutes that were allotted for day time per month.  For instance, if the plan says 800 day time minutes, it means only 800 minutes for incoming as well as outgoing in that month from 6 AM to 9 PM, that is considered as day time.

Most of them will have feature like, free mobile to mobile calling on the same network. Thus, one can talk as much as you want after 9 PM with your friends and family and also talk unlimited on weekends depending on plan. Again, incoming is NOT free unless specified. The thing is, they will do a credit check based on the credit history.

One may have to pay premium like $200 or $500 depending on the provider (this amount would be refunded after a year or so).

With this, we encourage you to weigh and choose your options. Since our aim is your happy talking experience!

Sending text messages through email has never been easier

Published by Michelle at 1:44 PM under Technology

Many have wondered about the possibility of sending text messages through email accounts. It saves money on texting and it is easier to use. The procedure is really simple, and there are some providers that have already implemented this extraordinary feature.

It is easier to type on a QWERTY keyboard than on the keypad of your phone and we all know that. How many times have you missed a letter or a punctuation mark because you just skipped it on the keypad? Now you can bring your typing skills with you and send a text faster, easier and cheaper than ever before.

There is a special email address, composed of the phone number to which you want to send the text message and the domain name of the provider. Usually, there are some programs that will look up the number and will make available to you an email address that is appropriate, depending on the service provider of the person you wish to send the text message to.

Generally, providers will help you if you call support and ask them about the email address corresponding to their customers. Although sending text messages through email also means it is free of charge, some providers impose certain limitations.

Usually, you may send as many as ten messages without having to pay, but after that, charges may apply. This service is very attractive for students; there are some plans that provide such services at a lower rates.

T-Mobile will introduce the NFC mobile payment system in 2011

Published by Michelle at 7:03 AM under Technology

Share

Deutsche Telekom has recently announced the introduction of a NFC mobile payment system sometime in 2011. NFC or near field communication is a new technology that uses proximity sensors in order to enable devices to “become” wireless.

It is a known fact that Apple intends to introduce this type of technology in the new generation of iPhones, so it is safe to assume that T-Mobile plans to acquire this new technology from Apple. Although Deutsche Telekom already holds the iPhone in several countries where it is present, they haven’t brought it to the US yet. In addition, this technology has risen in popularity already, despite the fact that the general population has not expansively tested it yet. But it will surely gain quite a number of fans after it is released.

Unfortunately, experts worry that this new type of application will not have the success Deutsche Telekom expects, as it enters an oversaturated market for mobile apps. Hopefully, a good marketing strategy will increase the triumph T-Mobile expects to achieve from launching a NFC mobile payment system.

As for those who worry for the safety of the payment transaction, you may rest assured, because several safety measures have been tested and technicians have already implemented advanced technology in the new application. Full disclosure regarding the technology used has not been made available to the general public yet, but speculators have already begun making assumptions with regard to the “ingredients” Deutsche Telekom has used in creating this new NFC payment system.

We are living in a world where we always run short of time. We want happen everything with a snap of finger or instantly. T-Mobile rightly and timely understood it and in recent years has developed a new 4G technology to drive the new growth of the industry. Now the big question is what 4G stands for. In simplest term 4G means fourth generation data network.

Now the next question is what the difference between 3G and 4G.The only difference is between their speeds. Just as 3G speed was better than 2G and in the same manner 4G speed is much faster than 3G.

The new 4G speed has overwhelming results. With 4G you can downloads your files and data at speed 10 times faster than 3G. You will experience web browsing on your Phone as if you are experiencing on your computer at home. T-Mobile is going to launch Galaxy 4G with speed of 21+Mbps which is far better than its previous 4G devices. If this is not all T-Mobile has also widened its 4G network and many new areas are covered under 4G network. The HTC G2 and myTouch 4G are in great demand due to their 4G network. After the remarkable success of G2 and myTouch 4G we are impatiently waiting for Galaxy 4G a better version of Samsung Vibrant.
