There are many types of cellular phones available on the market today and it can be very difficult to choose the one which best suits your life and personality from this sea (yes, in case you’ve not heard, your cell phone says a LOT about you). Cell phones start out with the intent of making us be in constant touch while hoping to simplify the daily tedium of calls and associated tasks. Manufacturers in the cell phone industry are working hard to make customers enjoy their cellular phone experience. The latest cell phones come equipped with fascinating features and functionalities unheard of as of yet. There are many people who really want to purchase a cellular phone that is simple and absolutely practical but are turned off by the barrage and hype surrounding cell phones. We’re here to help. A cell phone should no longer be a mystery!

It’s hard to imagine a life without them, but have you ever stopped and asked yourself how a cell phone works? It may not seem like critical information but knowing how a cell operates, is crucial (in our modest view) in selecting the right phone and its proper maintenance. Don’t worry; we’ll give you a brief non-technical view of how they operate (for when you’re on JEOPARDY!). A cellular phone is quite different from a common land line phone. This is because it operates in an exceptional way. Your cellular phone is just like a radio. It depends solely on radio signals to transmit and receive voice and digital information.

Cellular phones are miniature radios which are equipped with tiny transmitters. Your cell phone starts sending radio signals once you switch it on. This is an important point because cell phones are multi connected radio signals operating around a central antenna. A cell phone is just like a tiny cell functioning and traveling to another cell in one major interconnected network. It is important for you to understand how cell phones are different from each other and how they operate. It will also help you make the right choice about your carrier service and cellular phone plans.

There are 3 types of cellular phones:

  • Analog phones

Analog phones are the traditional kind of cell phones. An analog phone converts air vibrations into a corresponding frequency. Analog technology uses audio signals and changes them into electronic pulses. There are many small companies and residential areas which still use analog phones. They are less costly than key telephone system, voice over IP and Digital PBX. One major asset is that these phones can be used all over the world.

  • Digital phones

Digital phones have greater radio signals than analog phones. They also have less pricey call rates. One of the great advantages of these phones is that they consume less power. Their battery life is very high too!

  • PCS phones

PCS stands for Personal Communications Service. It is a highly flexible and adaptable technology. PCS is very similar to digital technology. The plus point of these phones is that you can switch between digital and analog. They can use digital antennae supplements as well as analog lines. Ideal for people who love traveling across the country!

We gave you an overview of how cell phones really work and what makes them different from each other. Now it’s up to you to make the right choice about your cellular phone. Understand this amazing device and make your cell phone experience a fantastic one! We hope this brief overview was helpful.
