Smartphones are rapidly becoming man’s best friend (say bye-bye to the pooch). With functionality that meets both work and play, these gadgets have given its users the complete freedom of accomplishing their tasks even when on the go. Last 2010, in the Nielsen Group report, it was predicted that by the end of 2011, Smartphones would have a very large share of the mobile phone market. The rapid rise of these phones in the US market, is evidence of this prediction coming true.

Among the Smartphone providers that reigned supreme and contributed to this rise, are Apple and BlackBerry. The battle between Smartphones is definitely at hand and these two giants, Apple’s iPhones and BlackBerry, are getting more attention as both try to gain a larger market share.

iPhone versus BlackBerry

Both are new and improved. The iPhone has always been the favorite Smartphone ever since it was introduced. Although calling it “a phone” does not seem to describe it as well as perhaps a “mini super computer” complete with the ability to download files and connect with friends through email and social networking sites, the iPhone is a sure winner. Since the iPhone hit the market, other phone manufacturers followed with their own Smartphones, and one of them was of course, BlackBerry.

BlackBerry can be considered as the Smartphone that caters to those in the business arena. It has excellent email and chat services that allow corporate employees on the go, a way to communicate with officemates or meet business agendas. These two phones appealed to different genres: iPhone for the carefree and BlackBerry for the career oriented ones. In addition, while many are wondering why there is such a thing as “Smartphone battles” (with the fact that they all seem to have the same specification in hardware), the two brands are working hard to come up with more improved operating systems to differentiate themselves.

The BlackBerry: it is also for the fun loving kind…

It is considered by entrepreneurs, or corporate workers, as the ultimate phone to own. Wireless mobile phones may have been created to assure connectivity with people even when we are walking to the train station or dining at some fancy restaurant, yet with Smartphones, so much more is possible. The BES is BlackBerry’s answer to the competition. This operating system gave BlackBerry phones their winning ticket by giving users the functionality of connecting with office networks to keep in touch with clients, send emails etc.

With the growing demands for Smartphones, the BlackBerry provides users with additional robust features. People will surely enjoy BlackBerry’s line up of applications from its music player to its tracking device (via GPS).

iPhones are still the scene stealers …

The iPhone never failed to be the crowd favorite. It has gained much attention since its release. However, with other mobile phone providers releasing their very own versions, the iPhone has gone through changes that modify its functionality. The iPhone is not just for fun but also for the career oriented. It is more than just a music player or a chatting device.

While the mobile phone community adjusts to the shifting trends from feature phones to Smartphones, Smartphone providers (especially iPhones and BlackBerrys) are ensuring their subscribers (and those who wish to avail their services), that their phone’s performance is up to par. Now the battle is on and with it, is the growing popularity of Smartphones for mobile phone consumers.
