There are far too many devices that sport QWERTY keyboards not to make even the most discerning customers happy, including messaging fans or hardcore “texters”. Manufacturers are coming up with new gadgets that satisfy your needs plus give you that great feel of creativity mingled with innovation. If you want to try something very unique which makes you master your texting skills then the Samsung T349 is the bona fide phone—call it, ultimate phone for you. The Samsung T349 is a half QWERTY candy bar phone whose design is very similar to the RIM’s Blackberry Pearl. The T349 has a simple candy bar layout design with a smooth rectangular shape and well finished rounded corners. We simply love the smooth and shiny feel of it. The delicate lime color blends well with the silver looking plastic body and ends up looking quite slick. It is a groovy gadget which slips very easily in your pockets, just like a play toy! A top notch phone for the budget minded.
The Samsung T349 is not a sophisticated Smartphone but is in fact a simple phone with great basic features and some added functionalities. To begin with, The T349 has a 1,000 contacts list with space in each entry for five numbers and an email address. Contacts can be organized into groups along with photo for caller ID and 19 polyphonic ringtones. What’s more, you have the fantastic option of using MP3s or voice recordings as ringtones. You can choose 5 contacts as MyFaves favorite contacts (Anyone? Favorites!).
There are twenty skillfully sized buttons that take the shape of four rows which form the Half QWERTY Keyboard. They are uplifted, evenly spaced and the keyboard has the most excellent tactile feel. There are only a few keys like the alternate, enter and delete keys which have restricted functions. All the rest have multiple functions so that’s great. You will have the fabulous experience of the QWERTY keyboard due to its backlighting which makes the keys easily distinguishable (No lights needed, please!).
You can easily access the MicroSD slot by removing the cover on the left edge of the phone. The tiny buttons used for volume control are placed closer to the middle which we think is quite great placement. On the other side, there’s a proprietary charging port and specifically functional camera key. To top it all, the high resolution 1.3 megapixel camera is delicately situated in the top right back corner of the phone. You can remove the back cover which reveals the SIM card and battery slot.
Other included basics are: a speakerphone, a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, a voice recorder, a calendar, an alarm clock, a to-do list, a note pad, a calculator, a tip calculator, a world time clock, a unit conversion tool, a timer, and a stopwatch. You can also send an "audio postcard," which is an image set up in a fun frame which accompanies your voice message. There’s more, advanced users will simply love the Wireless Web browser, mobile Web email which supports AIM, AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, Comcast and more. For fervent texters, there is instant messaging (AIM, Windows Live, and Yahoo) in addition to Stereo Bluetooth.
The Samsung T349 is the first messaging phone with a 20-key keyboard which is very similar to the Blackberry Pearl’s SureType Keyboard. We really appreciated this phone although we do recognize that some people might not like the layout. The features of this amazing phone are very comprehensible and easy. The Samsung T349 is a highly admired and affordable device. Looking for a uniquely shaped cell phone with bundled functionalities? Choose Samsung T349.
